El Silencio Mirador and Trails
The El Silencio Mirador is a series of hiking trails and nature reserve located 12 km from La Fortuna and 5 km from the Arenal Volcano National Park. The El Silencio property is a vast 225 hectare reserve with over 100 hectares of primary rain forest that includes many old growth trees including the Ceiba, Trumpet Tree and Guarumo.
The El Silencio Mirador also offers extraordinary views of the Arenal Volcano at the Mirador lookout. El Silencio Mirador is located in the high risk zone because of its close proximity to the Arenal Volcano, it is an area where new construction is not permitted but for the last 40 years it has been a safe place to observe the volcano and admire the spectacular view.
There are two options for visiting El Silencio it is possible to arrive directly to the entrance and pay the entrance fee of $6, children under 7 are free. The other option is to be picked up from your hotel in the Arenal Area by a driver and naturalist guide and walk the trails and learn about the area from a naturalist guide.
