El Silencio Mirador Trails & Hot Springs - Arenal
El Silencio Mirador are a series of hiking trails and nature reserve located 7.4 miles (12 km) from La Fortuna and 3 miles (5 km) from the Arenal Volcano.
The El Silencio property is 555 acres (225 ha) reserve, with more than 247 acres (100 ha) of primary forest. Many old-grown trees like the ceiba, the trumpet tree and the guarumo grow on this part of the rainforest. The El Silencio trails give an extraordinary look at the Arenal Volcano. In addition to these trails, there is a mirador (Spanish for "lookout") with incredible views of the volcano and surrounding hillsides.
Important: the trails are in a high risk zone, because of its close proximity to the volcano. New construction is not allowed in this part, but it has been safe for the last 40 years to walk and observe the volcano from the trails.
