Lake Arenal Dam

Lake Arenal Dam (The Sangregado Dam) is administered by the I.C.E. (Instituto Costaricense de Electricidad, Costa Rica's National Electric Power Company.) The hydroelectric project was built with a capacity of 157 megawatts and now provides 70% of Costa Rica’s hydroelectric power. The main road from Arenal to Tilaran, runs across its 70 meter (229.66 foot) wall.
